Cabernet Franc Wine Tasting
£19.00

Wednesday 17 January at 7:00 pm

Cabernet Franc is one of the most important and ancient grape varieties from France. Probably originated in the west part of the Pyrenees has been cultivated in France for thousands years and it is the progenitor of the more well known Cabernet Sauvignon.

As the acclaimed wine critic Jancis Robinson actually put it:

"....Cabernet Franc might be described as the feminine side of Cabernet Sauvignon. It is subtly fragrant and gently flirtatious rather than massively muscular and tough in youth. Because Cabernet Sauvignon has so much more of everything – body, tannin, alcohol, colour – it is often supposed to be necessarily superior, but I have a very soft spot indeed for its more charming and more aromatic relative, Cabernet Franc".

There are three main regions where the Cab Franc is widely planted: Bordeaux, Loire Valley and North-East of Italy. It is also increasingly popular outside Europe especially in California and in South Africa.

We are going to taste six different Cabernet Franc wines and understand the character and the reasons why is becoming trendy particularly among the millennials.
