Verdicchio di Matelica DOC (White wine)
£16.95

The name Verdicchio comes from the Italian word verde (green) for the characteristic green hue of its grapes. Verdicchio is made in the Marche region were there are two zones of production: Castelli di Jesi which is situated along the coast, and the much smaller area of Matelica that is located further inland and has vineyards at higher altitude, resulting in a lifted lemon acidity in the final wines. This example, in fact shows a nice dryness with mandarin fruit and nutty character and also has a  fairly strong minerality on the finish.
