Furmint - "Triebaumer"

Husband and wife team of Gunter and Regina work sustainably in their family winery near the town of Rust on the edge of the Nieuseder See. They use pheromone treatments to control pests and plant non vine species between the rows of vines to prevent soil erosion. They meet 25/26 organic standards but refuse to be certified as this would add to the cost of their wines!  Hand-picked grapes on weathered slate soils with a perfect balance of ripeness and natural acidity. Lovely aromas of fresh crunchy apples. It’s a thirst quencher but also great with duck and game terrine, guacamole with fried chorizo tortillas, pork and mature Vacherin Mont D’Or cheese
